Students and faculty celebrate Spirit Week by wearing outfits based on daily themes.

During the week of the 17th through the 21st, Deer Park High School (DPHS) celebrated spirit week. Each year,  students prepare to memorialize the week leading up to the La Porte football game; showcasing their spirit by dressing up for each themed day. The different themed days were; Monday-Crazy hair day, Tuesday-Tie die Tuesday, Wednesday-Wacky Wednesday, Thursday-Twin Day, Friday-Camo day.

“[The reason we have spirit week every year is] to show support for the football team playing against La Porte,” North Campus event organizer and teacher Carol Voight said.

Additionally, North Campus student council members helped to promote spirit week by choosing the specific dress-up days and what the student body would enjoy wearing. Some of the most common spirit day themes have been crazy hat day, crazy sock day, and pajama day. This year, twin day was the most popular spirit day of the week.

“Spirit week is an event that meets student council’s project requirements for showing school spirit,” Voight said.
