The Deer Network is the news and information network for Deer Park High School created for students, parents, and the Deer Park community. It is made up of the Broadcast Journalism, Journalism, Photo Journalism, and Sports Broadcasting classes.
Students in broadcast journalism learn and excercise writing, interviewing, and video skills to produce programs for broadcast. In addition to creating a weekly news broadcast, we also produce several live events throughout the year.
Students in journalism learn journalistic traditions, research self-selected topics, write journalistic texts, and learn the principles of publishing.
Students in photojournalism use skills in photography to capture school events for the Deer Network and other Deer Park High School publications, such as the yearbook.
Sports Broadcasting is designed to give students an opportunity to exercise writing and video production skills in relation to live sports events. The class is responsible for all sports content for the Deer Network and the production of select live events at Clyde Abshier Stadium.
