Deer Park football head coach Chris Massey was chosen as the Houston Texans high school football coach of the week. Each week, the Texans high school coach of the week program chose a coach from the Houston area to win this award. Each recipient receives a Houston Texans coach of the week hat, a certificate and $2,500 for the team booster club.
“Personally I just got a big check, but the school booster club got the $2,500,” Coach Massey said.
He will be able to go to a dinner at the end of the season with all of the recipients from throughout the year and then go to a Texans game. Coach Massey was very selfless in recognizing his coaching staff as the reason he received this honor.
“This is more of a reflection on our coaching staff than it is on me,” Coach Massey said.
