The first Monday of May is always the most exciting day of spring. It’s the most glorious day for fashion all wrapped up in one day. The Met Gala is a red carpet premiere that’s held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York.

So many stars show up to show off their new look. Apparently it’s not all fun and games for the stars, it’s actually like homework for them, as shown in the Netflix documentary called “The First Monday in May”. The documentary takes you behind the scenes of the hard work that went into last year’s Met Gala. The theme was based on the museum’s new exhibit called “China: Through the Looking Glass”. It got more views then Alexander Mcqueen’s “Savage Beauty” exhibit, which was the museum’s number one display.

This year’s Met theme was “Comme des Garcons’s Rei Kawakubo,” which is the museum’s first monograph show focusing on an actual living designer since their exhibit on one of my personal favorite designers, Yves Saint Laurent back in 1983. The exhibit will show 120 piece of womenswear dating all the way back to the designer’s first runway collection in 1981.

In the documentary, Anna Wintour (head of Vogue magazine) confirms that certain stars are picked by designers all around to attend the big premiere to show off their latest designs. So yes, even stars have homework assignments as well. It’s such a huge production and so much work goes into making the Mets happen.

This year stars like Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Katy Perry, Sofia Richie, Kim Kardashian West and many more showed up to the Mets in jaw dropping gowns & body suits.

Kylie Jenner appearing for her second year at the Met’s and had head turning when rumors spread she took Beyoncé’s spot. She came in a stunning, all gold body gown with gold tassels. Personally one of my favorite dresses that appeared on the carpet. Kendall’s dress did have people talking in an interview with E! News. She claims that the dress was not actual fabric, but was strictly thread holding everything together, which was pretty revealing but very Met Gala.

Tons of stars came to show their new looks for this year’s Met’s. The exhibit itself changed the game for the Met’s for good, considering it’s the museums first exhibit featuring a living designer, so I’m excited to see what they have in store for the first Monday in May next year.
